ABOUT OUR REPORT
Tarmac, a CRH company, is a leading UK sustainable building products, construction services and solutions business. Our innovative products, services and solutions help to deliver the infrastructure needed to grow the economy today and create a more sustainable built environment to support the future prosperity of the UK.
Our report looks at the actions we have taken to improve sustainability for our business, our customers and our communities by continually improving environmental, social and economic performance throughout the whole life cycle of our products, services and solutions.
Aligned with our parent company, CRH, we aim to reduce absolute CO2e emissions reduction by 30% by 2030 (from a 2021 base year) inclusive of organic business growth which forms part of its 2050 net zero ambitions. This target applies to CRH’s company-wide gross carbon emissions and covers our total footprint across Scope 1, 2, and 3. In 2023, the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)* validated CRH's targets1 to be in line with a 1.5°C trajectory.
*The SBTi’s Target Validation Team has classified CRH’s Scope 1 and Scope 2 target ambition and has determined that it is in line with a 1.5°C trajectory.

It focuses on the issues that we consider to be material to our business as identified in our sustainability strategy.
Throughout 2025, Tarmac has continued to develop its position as a leading sustainable construction and building materials supplier. We have continued to work closely with our customers and the supply chain to develop innovative solutions and manufacturing methods that support both our own sustainability ambitions and those of our customers.
The launch of Tarmac’s dedicated Circularity business in 2025 marked a significant step forward in our long-established commitment to the circular economy. Built upon the principles of maximising material value, reducing waste, and keeping resources in circulation for longer, this new approach will allow Tarmac to support customers in delivering material-efficient projects and contribute to a more resilient and circular construction sector.
The year also saw the expansion of Tarmac’s operational footprint in Cumbria with the move to full ownership of Tendley Quarries Ltd, previously operated as a joint venture. This has enhanced our ability to support key projects and strengthen our sustainability focus in the region.
