FOREWARD FROM MANAGING DIRECTORS
In 2025, we have continued to advance sustainability practices across our business and the wider supply chain, achieving further progress towards our Sustainability Strategy. As the UK balances the need for economic growth while transitioning to a low-carbon future, it's vital that the infrastructure we deliver today must not only meet immediate demands but also help build a more resilient, future-ready society.
Our progress is underpinned by clear, science-based targets. We are committed to reducing absolute CO₂e emissions by 30% by 2030 from a 2021 baseline, across Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions – targets that reflect the scale of ambition required across our industry. While we are encouraged by the progress made to date, we recognise that delivering on these commitments will require continued innovation, collaboration and discipline.
A significant milestone has been the launch of our dedicated Circularity business, reinforcing our long-standing commitment to the circular economy. By maximising the value of materials, reducing waste and keeping resources in use for longer, we are supporting our customers to deliver more efficient, lower-impact projects while helping to build a more resilient construction system.
We have also expanded our operational footprint through the move to full ownership of Tendley Quarries in Cumbria. This has enhanced our ability to support regional infrastructure while embedding sustainable practices more deeply across our operations in the area.
The dedication of our people and the strength of our partnerships play a crucial role in our ability to continually enhance our performance. Safety and wellbeing remain our highest priority, and we are proud to be recognised as a leading employer in our sector. We place great value on collaboration and continue to work closely with our customers, suppliers, communities and other stakeholders to drive positive change across the value chain.
We would also like to acknowledge the invaluable contribution of our External Sustainability Panel over the past decade. Their expertise and constructive challenge have played a critical role in shaping our strategy and strengthening our approach to sustainability.
While we are proud of the progress outlined in this report, we are clear that there is more to do. We remain focused on delivering practical, scalable and resilient solutions that create social value, support sustainable growth and deliver a future-ready built environment.
